the AUTORUN feature is shut off on my machine?

OPEN file SETUP.EXE from the root of the CDROM and then click OK to

Why doesn't
ExpressLink make my on-line banking any faster?
Banks and other
financial websites use HTTPS, which is a secure version of HTTP when
communicating financial or private data. A “lock” icon on bottom of
the secure web page also indicates this. Any HTTPS communication over
the Internet is completely bypassed by the ExpressLink client. This
is due to the encrypted nature of the HTTPS data.

AOL does not
seem to work with ExpressLink?
At the present
time, ExpressLink does not work with the AOL software directly; it
does however work if you launch the Microsoft Internet Explore or
Netscape browser as another window while connected to AOL. In the
future, when compatibility is released, you will be provided an
upgrade free of charge.

Why do pictures
on web pages come up blurry with ExpressLink?
One of the
benefits of ExpressLink is the faster loading of web pages by the
aggressive compression of pictures. You can control how much
compression ExpressLink applies to the images on web pages by right
clicking on the ExpressLink icon in the System Tray and choosing
"Settings". This will bring up the ExpressLink Setting window. From
here, click on the "Image Quality" tab and move the slide bar to
choose your "Image Quality" level (Original, Excellent, Very Good,
Good, Reduced Slightly, Reduced Significantly). The higher the
quality, the less compression that ExpressLink will apply to images on
web pages. As you move the slider you can get an idea of the image
quality as well as an indication of the level of acceleration that can
be achieved with that setting.
Once you have
chosen the setting that you think is an acceptable trade off between
image quality and acceleration, you can always request to see the
original of a given or all images on a web page. You do this by right
clicking on the image in the web page and choose "Show Original Image"
or if you want to see all the images in uncompressed form choose “Show
All Original Images” from the menu that pops up. This will load the
uncompressed image if using Microsoft Internet Explorer. This feature
is not available if you are using Netscape.

Why do some pictures
on web pages come up scrambled with ExpressLink?
In order to preserve
the integrity of the picture being compressed, ExpressLink compresses
pictures and graphics as a single block. Some websites show a
picture which is built up of more than one image and has not been
merged into one complete block. To the viewer this missing action does
not make any difference but when the picture passes through
ExpressLink server, it is compressed as individual blocks and loses its
overall structure
and appears as scrambled.
You can always
request to see the original of this image on the web page. You do
this by right clicking on the image in the web page and choose "Show
Original Image" from the menu that pops up.
This will load the uncompressed image if using Microsoft Internet
Explorer. This feature is not available if you are using Netscape.

Why can't I see
the ExpressLink icon in the System Tray at the bottom right-hand
corner of my screen on Windows XP, why not?
Windows XP limits the number of icons shown in the System Tray at one
time. To see all the icons, click the small round button with a <
symbol (this button is labeled 'show hidden icons'). If ExpressLink is
running, you will see the ExpressLink icon appear after the show
hidden icons button is pressed.
To always show the ExpressLink icon, bring up the 'Taskbar and Start
Menu properties' dialog (by right clicking on the Start Menu, and then
selecting Properties). In the Taskbar tab, at the bottom make sure the
Hide Inactive Icons box is checked. Click the Customize button. Find
ExpressLink. In the behavior field, select Always show from the drop
down list. Apply settings.

When connecting
to www.google.com, why does GOOGLE always point to the www.google.ca
site?
The location of
the ExpressLink server triggers which site Google will direct you to.
To force connection to the US site for Google, please append “/en” at
the end. (i.e. www.google.com/en)

Why does the
color of the ExpressLink program icon change?
The ExpressLink program icon changes color to indicate that data
acceleration is in progress. This is normal operation. If the
ExpressLink is ready the icon color will be BLUE. The icon will turn
GREEN when ExpressLink is compressing/decompressing data. It will
change to RED if you have stopped ExpressLink by right clicking on the
icon and selecting “Stop ExpressLink”. The Icon will also turn RED if
the ExpressLink client software running cannot communicate with the
ExpressLink server. This can happen for a number of reasons. If this
happens you can attempt to reconnect with the ExpressLink server by
right clicking on the icon and selecting “Start ExpressLink”. If the
problem persists, contact support via email to
(support@expresslink.biz).

How do I get
Zone Alarm to work with ExpressLink?
To use the ZoneAlarm personal firewall with ExpressLink, you may need
to add the Remote Server Hostname of your ExpressLink server(s), as
shown in the Settings dialog, Connection Window, Advanced button
(www3.expresslink.biz), to ZoneAlarm's advanced security settings. If
“ExpressLink.exe” does not appear in ZoneAlarm's program list, add it.
Also, be sure your local security settings are set to Medium or Low,
not High.

Why do I get
an error sometimes when I send email?
Email programs may time out while sending or receiving very large
attachments over SMTP/POP3. Exit ExpressLink in order to send the file
and to resolve any lingering connection issues, or change the timeout
settings on the email client if possible.
top
Why does my
email client sometimes display a "server time out" error message?
This is caused by a setting in your email client. You should lengthen
the server timeout setting. In MS Outlook, go to the Tools menu |
Account settings... then select your email account and click to modify
the account settings. Then click More Settings, and go to the Advanced
tab. You should see a server timeout slider switch. By sliding this
switch towards longer, you can extend the download timeout time.

Why do some
email images not get compressed?
ExpressLink does
not compress any attached images in an email but depending of the
format of the email message can perform compression on embedded/linked
images.

I cannot view
certain types of animations when ExpressLink is running?
Animation
contained in certain web pages are complex files with certain timing
dependencies that ExpressLink cannot reproduce exactly. If you are
using Internet Explorer right click on the image and select “Show
Original Image” or “Show All Original Images” if many animations need
to be viewed on the same web page. If you are using Netscape, right
click on the ExpressLink icon and either select “Stop ExpressLink” or
select Settings and then set the image slide bar to “original” image
quality. Once you have viewed the animation you can restart
ExpressLink or go back to your desired image quality setting.

I exited
ExpressLink, why are my images still compressed?
Even when ExpressLink is not loaded the browser uses the local cache,
which contains images previously compressed by ExpressLink. To remedy
this you can either clear the browser cache or press CTRL+F5 to force
a page reload without caching. If a refresh does not occur when using
CTRL+F5 make sure that the browser window is the active window (i.e.
click anywhere on the webpage).
Another option is not to exit ExpressLink but instead bypass
acceleration on selective or all images on the web page. To do this
right-click on the image and select “Show Original Image” or “Show All
Original Images” from the pop-up menu.

Can I reload
images after changing the ExpressLink quality setting without having
to clear my browser cache?
You can use Ctrl+F5 to reload a page and bypass local caching,
ExpressLink will apply the latest image compression setting to the
reloaded web page. If a refresh does not occur when using CTRL+F5 make
sure that the browser window is the active window (i.e. click
